The General Debate of the 61st session of the General Assembly was held on 19-27 September 2006 under the theme of "Implementing a global partnership for development.” The 61st debate marked the second time that the general debate was held with a theme proposed to Member States by the incoming President, as envisaged by Assembly resolution 58/126.
As part of WILPF’s engagement with the General Assembly, PeaceWomen and our sister program Reaching Critical Will worked together to monitor the debate for gender and disarmament issues.
