Representatives from various governmental, social, and institutional sectors that work on the issue of women and security will meet on Thursday, 7 April in the framework of the XXIX Policy Roundtable of the Organization of American States (OAS) titled "Women, Peace and Security ". The event seeks to analyze initiatives that integrate gender perspective into conflict prevention and resolution, peacekeeping, constitutional reform, disarmament, violence prevention and security sector reform efforts in the Americas.

The event, organized by the OAS Department of International Affairs, the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), will include a presentation of the document: “Implementing Resolutions for Women, Peace and Security in the Security Sector Reform”. This study, prepared by the DCAF, seeks to offer guidance to policy-makers, NGOs and international actors supporting the design and implementation of National Action Plans regarding the Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council on Women, Peace and Security.

The agenda of the roundtable includes the participation of the President of the Inter-American Commission of Women, Rocío García Gaytán; the Assistant Director and Head of Special Programs of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), Anja Ebnöther; the United States Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues, Melanne Verveer; the CIM Executive Secretary, Carmen Moreno; the DCAF Deputy Head, Special Programmes, Daniel de Torres; the Deputy Director of the OAS Department of Public Security, Alison August Treppel; the Director of the Institute for Inclusive Security, Carla Koppell; and the Director of the Rule of Law Center of Innovation, United States Institute for Peace (USIP), Collette Rausch. The closing ceremony will be presented by the OAS Secretary for Multidimensional Security, Adam Blackwell.
