Kampala — More Ugandan women have come up top take the lead in various fields among others entrepreneurship.

The idea is concerned bout how to bring women on board looking at collaboration and partnership as a way forward for women. "Uganda as a nation needs to unleash the women's untapped potential to scale up enterprise development in its prosperity for all programmess," said UIA boss Prof. Maggie Kigozi at the launch of the Uganda Network of Women Entrepreneurs (UNWE) in Kampala recently.

Kigozi added that women entrepreneurs drive economic potential through innovating and creating jobs, food security and prosperity of families. Kigozi was happy that women had come up to show their potential in business.

UNWE is an intergenerational mentoring platform for social and business entrepreneurs, a space that has been formalized by ICON to facilitate shared learning from the social and business sector, in such away that women entrepreneurs grow and in turn mentor others.

Kigozi congratulated the team of UNWE upon their success in mentoring women in business and pledged to work with them under the young women entrepreneurs to promote more women.

Women entrepreneurs dealing in small, medium and large scale businesses, professional women interested in business, young women in tertiary institutions and young female graduates can now freely interact with one another in exchanging business ideas," said Deborah Kaddu Serwadda the Executive Director of ICON.

Damali Mukiibi the head of SME banking, Women in Business Desk at DFCU bank encouraged women to make use of advisory services in financial institutions like low interest loans as a go ahead for women in business.

To bring up more women on board ion business, Ugandan women are working in partnership with their counterparts from Mozambique under the Foundation for Community Development (FDC).
