The United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB) was established in December 2010 through Security Council resolution 1959 (2010), succeeding the United Nations Integrated Office in Burundi (BINUB), to “to support the progress achieved in recent years by all national stakeholders in consolidating peace, democracy and development in Burundi.” The main activities BNUB undertakes include: peace consolidation and democratic governance, Security Sector Reform (SSR), promotion of human rights and measures to end impunity.
