The present report focuses on the role of peace agreements as tools for enhancing the participation of women and promoting gender equality in peace processes. Given their central role in all stages of peace processes, the report discusses opportunities for enhancing the participation of women and promoting gender equality during the negotiation phase, in the substantive content of peace agreements and in the implementation phase of such agreements. The report concludes with a series of recommendations for consideration by the Commission on the Status of Women.
