AUSTRALIA based Fijian hip-hop artist Thelma Thomas aka MC Trey jets into the country to hold a series of workshops with local young women.
Held in conjunction with FemLINKPACIFIC, the Suva-based workshops will help the women create music around themes of peace, security and the role that women play in keeping the peace.MC Trey, representing Fiji Youth Initiative- a Sydney-based organisation, will be teaming up with members of Generation Next- a group of community radio producers and broadcasters working together with FemLINKPACIFIC to produce the musical workshops.
Held from August 30 to September 2, the workshops also coincide with the United Nations Security Council's 10th anniversary of resolution 1325 Women, Peace and Security."Ultimately, it is about encouraging creative expression through music and I look forward to hearing the musical stories of young women from Suva," said MC Trey.
"The production collaboration will certainly boost our young women's production and communication skills and we are also looking forward to the technical production collaboration between MC Trey and our own Generation Next Technical Producer, Sulueti Waqa" said femLINKPACIFIC's executive director, Sharon Bhagwan Rolls.
