The National Conference for the Kurdish Woman is still ongoing in Dohuk with the participation of 21 Kurdish activists that represent Syria, Turkey, Iraq and Iran's Kurds, after its opening on Saturday, said the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Women's Union. The conference will last for six days until September 23.
Shereen Amidi told AKnews on Sunday, "The conference will discuss peace and freedom of the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan… it was held based on the recommendation of the National Conference of Kurdish Woman, held in Diyarbakir city in April 2010.”
The conference has made important decisions, such as supporting the cease-fire declared by the Turkish PKK, as a step that should meet a similar peace initiative. Amidi added, “the conference will send a message to the headquarters of the UN mission in Iraq, the International Peace Conference and the Presidency of Turkey, demanding to find a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue through dialogue and negotiation.”
She called the Turkish authorities to refrain the inhumane attacks on the Kurdish people". During this conference we have decided to establish a committee for the Kurdish women to follow up the peace issues… the conference recommended to convene another conference at an international level in the beginning of 2011, in which women shall play a key role.”
