In the wake of increasing cases of domestic violence and sexual offences the Fiji Police Force is organizing a symposium on Elimination of Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence.

The symposium is being organized in conjunction with the Ministry for Women and Social welfare at the end of the month.

Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the police force seeks to educate and inform its strategic partners on its strategies and the resources available to deal with the issue.

The force also seeks to ensure that victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence are adequately protected and defended by the legal and judicial institutions through close cooperation and facilitation of their needs in identifying the victims and collecting evidence so that perpetrators are brought to justice.
