A fundamental element of this Resolution is the establishment of a new entity to be known as UN women, which will be operational stating from 1 January 2011. The mandates of four already existing bodies committed to the promotion of women's rights will be transferred to this new entity, which will strengthen, in terms of capability, efficiency, and responsibility, the United Nations system in the field of gender-equality and the empowerment of women.
