In 2010, the international community will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. This resolution is the first to recognize the importance of women in the consolidation and maintenance of peace and conflict resolution. The EU and Belgium will be organizing three events, in Brussels, Geneva and New York, around the three pillars of Resolution 1325: participation, protection and prevention.
