Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - 20:00
PeaceWomen Consolidated Themes:
General Women, Peace and Security

The North-South Institute(NSI) and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) are pleased to invite you to a working-level policy roundtable on the challenges facing women living in developing countries affected by conflict and where police services are undergoing reform. The roundtable will also examine the links between informal justice and security sector reform (SSR). Drawing on ongoing work by NSI, CIGI and partners in developing countries, the discussions will contribute to a better understanding of how SSR processes impact citizens in conflict-affected contexts and how stakeholders can contribute to better SSR policy and practice. Representatives from NSI and CIGI, along with peer experts in their field, will lead panel discussions and make presentations on:

Ø Perspectives on gender and police reform from Liberian and South Sudanese policewomen and civil society members

Ø Informal justice systems and SSR

Ø Identifying a policy research agenda to address these issues

Please RSVP your attendance by September 16, 2010 to:
