The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction (MoPR) has prepared an action plan for the implementation of the Resolution No. 1325 women and peace and security and Resolution No. 1820 on sexual violence of the United Nations.
A final discussion on the action plan that has been readied holding wide discussions in 40 districts was held between the stakeholders on Monday.
On the occasion, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong express hope that the action plan with not meet with any hurdle during the implementation phase as it has incorporated the sentiments of the victims.
"Conflict-hit women will not get justice unless the proposed Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on Disappearance is formed," he said.
MoPR Under-Secretary Sadhuram Sapkota said that about Rs. 8.73 billion has been estimated to implement the action plan.
Bandana Rana, one of the members of the action plan drafting committee, said that Nepal will become 22th country in the world and the first in the SAARC region to implement both the resolutions of the UN if the government implemented the action plan.
