Report Analysis: 
  • In the report, the Secretary-General noted positive progression of economic development in the country. While he reported a few minor conflicts between political parties and their supporters, he noted that no major conflicts appear to have taken place.

  • WPS issues were attended to in discussion of SGBV assistance, political representation, training and sensitivity for officers and staff on SGBV and women’s engagement, and the need to prevent violence against women in the upcoming elections.

  • The Secretary-General states also that a bill has been put forward to ensure a 30% quota for women in political positions.

  • While the SG states that preventing violence against women in the elections is an important objective, the report does not detail specific plans in this regard.
