United Nations, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) UN Security Council on Friday called to combat negative social attitudes regarding women's full participation in conflict resolution and mediation.
The Security Council also urged to create favorable conditions to boost the performance of females in all stages of peace processes.
The UN body devoted a session on Friday to the issue of women's role in solving the problems of peace and security on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of resolution 1325 on the matter.
In a statement issued by its office, the Security Council stressed the need to promote and protect human rights of women and girls and include gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping missions of the UN.
The document also calls for increasing women's work in preventing and resolving conflicts and in the later stages of peacebuilding.
The Security Council urged to support all peace initiatives of women in local spheres, conflict resolution processes and mechanisms of implementation of agreements.
During the meeting, the head of the agency UN-Women, Michelle Bachelet, presented a report of the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, which calls for increasing the role of females in solving the problems of peace and security.
