A cross-cultural radio seminar for women broadcasters on community radio and peace building, climate change and disaster management in conjunction with the 2nd AMARC Asia Pacific Community Radio Conference in Bangalore.

Women Making Airwaves for Peace (WMAP) is a six-day seminar that gathers around 30women community radio broadcasters from the South and Central Asia. It is a space where participants share their experiences, particularly best practices towards engendered peace building, climate change and disaster management -- enabling community radio toempower women in different situations.

The seminar also enhances the skills of the participants in radio production, digital audio editing and interview techniques. It sharpens their perspectives through engendered peace journalism and disaster management, feminist broadcasting and the Gender Policy for Community Radio.

*Who can participate?

Women Community Radio Broadcasters from South and Central Asia, preferably with experience in situations of armed conflict, natural disasters and climate change (not a condition). Participants form other regions are also welcome but at their own experience What are the required language skills The seminar is conducted in English. However English is not a requirement. Non-English speaking women are encouraged to apply.

*Who can apply for scholarship?

Full scholarships (travel, board and lodging) are limited to participants from South and Central Asia. Participants from the rest of Asia Pacific can only apply for a scholarship for registration fee, board and lodging. However, they have cover their own travel expenses, All other participants are welcome to attend at their own expenses.
