The UN Secretary-General’s High-level Meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda will take place the day before the beginning of the general debate of the UN General Assembly's 73rd session (UNGA 73). According to remarks by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed on 27 July 2018, the programme of the high‑level meeting will reflect three action areas: building momentum and political support at all levels; stepping up engagement with the private sector; and making the most of innovative solutions to finance the SDGs. She reported that the meeting will begin with an opening address by the Secretary‑General, followed by three interactive panel discussions to address: aligning global financial and economic policies with the 2030 Agenda, to spur political momentum to foster the mobilization of resources; enhancing sustainable financing strategies and mobilizing private investment for sustainable development; and fintech efforts to advance financial inclusion on the ground, aiming to seize the potential of financial innovations, new technologies and digitalization to provide equitable access to finance. Mohammed added that the meeting also will call on stakeholders to act and report on progress to the UNGA's High‑level Dialogue on Financing for Development, which will convene immediately before the UNGA-auspiced session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in September 2019.
