This is a speech given by Sahle-Work Zewde, the newly named to be President of Ethiopia, and previous Special Representative of the Secretary-General & Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union. She was speaking on October 19 at the African Union Peace and Security Council Open Session: Celebration of Resolution 1325. In celebration of UNSCR 1325's 18th Anniversary, she discusses how the goals of   the African Union (AU)'s 'Agenda 2063', the '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' and the AU's 'Silencing the Guns by 2020'  need the full and meaningful participation of women in order for the regional and global commitments to be realised.
