Donald Steinberg, Crisis Group's Deputy President for Policy, was recently named to the United Nations Civil Society Advisory Group on Women, Peace and Security. This is a 14-person global panel that will advise senior UN officials on practical steps for transforming Security Council resolutions into effective measures to protect women in armed conflict and to empower them to play their vital role in peacemaking and post-conflict reconstruction and governance. In this podcast, he reflects on the unfinished agenda in implementing UN Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, and the challenges in generating the resources, institutional changes, and political will needed achieve new progress.
