Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal today appealed to all women to unite for peace and constitution.

Issuing a statement, PM Khanal expressed his best wishes to all Nepali women on the occasion of 101st International Women's Day, celebrated all over the world under the slogan ‘Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women'.

PM Khanal stated that the interim constitution had ensured the rights of women and guaranteed elimination of all kinds of gender discrimination. He said: “Such provision can only be institutionalised through the formulation of a new constitution,” adding, “Therefore, peace and formulation of the new constitution is a must.”

Meanwhile, seven women organisations on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to PM Khanal asking to rename the Women's Day as International Day on Labour Women. All Nepal Women Association, ANWA-Revolutionary, ANWA-Unified and Nepal Women (Federation) submitted the memorandum.
