PALESTINE: Sheikha Fatima's Humanitarian Efforts Lauded by UN, Palestinian Officials

Palestinian officials and international personalities have hailed the support extended by HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women's Union and of the Family Development Foundation, to build a Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in the city of Hebron in the West Bank.

The Centre was officially inaugurated by the Palestinian Minister of Social Affairs Magida Al Masri, who said that Sheikha Fatima gave the best humanitarian support to the people with disabilities in Palestine through the establishment of the Rehabilitation Centre in the Hebron City. She added that the Centre provides various kinds of supports to the disabled people helping them to overcome their disabilities and practice several activities in the life.

The Palestinian Minister expressed sincere gratitude to the government and people of the UAE and the Read Cre4scent Authority (RCA) for their continuous support to the Palestinians, especially the orphans and persons with disabilities among them.

Meanwhile, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Palestine Frode Mauring, who had overseen the project until its completion, thanked UAE and the Emirati Red Crescent for supporting such humanitarian and productive projects in Palestine.

The center will house hundreds of disabled men and women and provide them with training in various skills and trades such as carpentry, blacksmithing, electrical works, sewing, embroidery and electronics. Once they complete their training they will be able to earn the means of living for themselves and their families.
