The recognition of women's participation in economic development is vital, says Pacific Islands News Association president Moses Stevens.
During the recent ADB Pacific Business Media Summit in Australia, Mr Stevens said this recognition would contribute to a country's "moving-forward process".
"Traditionally, women have always been the centre of life within the families and communities.
"But now that we are starting to give them formal recognition and encouragement in their participation in our economic development, I think materials on women's activities in some island communities could be made available to the mainstream media for broadcast," he said.
"I believe it is vital to expose what other societies are doing and share their experiences and achievements."
