Three women recently arrived from Afghanistan will talk about their work to empower women and facilitate peace there, at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Tikkun Reform Temple, 2550 N. Triphammer Road.

Marzia Zafarzada Bahir, Arezo Qanih and Hasina Safi work with the Afghan Women's Network, which is considered the only umbrella entity for women and gender-based organizations in Afghanistan and is involved in reviewing the Shiite Personal Status Law to address women's rights. The event is free and open to the public.

They are coming to Ithaca through the work of the the Institute for Circlework, an Ithaca-based non-profit organization, whose leadership training is facilitated by author and teacher Jalaja Bonheim. In Israel, Bonheim has led groups that bring Jewish and Palestinian women together and led a retreat this year for 40 Palestinian women in the West Bank.

The event will include music by Alice Saltonstall and Jayne Demakos. For more information, call 351-3363 or visit instituteforcirclework.org.
