MANAL OMAR

Over the last ten years Manal has developed a wide range of experience in several organizations, ranging from multilateral (UN and World Bank) to international non governmental organizations (Oxfam-GB and Women for Women International).

Manal's areas of focus include: (i)Women's rights within an Islamic framework, (ii)Role of women in post conflict, peace mediation, and nation building, (iii)Organizational management and development, (iv)Community Mobilization and Assessments.

CHRISTINA ASQUITH

An award-winning journalist for over 14 years, Christina has written for The New York Times, The Economist, The Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian and was a staff writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Her book, “Sisters in War: Love, Survival and Family in the New Iraq” is based off of the 18 months she lived in and reported from Baghdad, Iraq.

Prosperity Candle celebrates women as a global force for peace and prosperity.

This innovative social enterprise partners with women entrepreneurs in places of conflict and distress and provides them with the opportunity to establish highly scalable candle businesses with sustainable links to global markets. It has launched its first initiative in Baghdad, Iraq with women who are seeking to move beyond survival and to prosper and thrive through the transformative power of enterprise.

WOMEN'S VOICES NOW

Women's Voices Now's mission is to empower women and give voice to the struggle for civil, economic and political rights. In our first year, WVN will host Women's Voices from the Muslim World: A Short-Film Festival giving voice to women of all faiths living in Muslim-majority countries and Muslim women living as minorities around the globe.
