About the event :
The Government of Rwanda, European Union and UN Women are holding a global high-level meeting on Increasing Accountability and Development Effectiveness through Gender-Responsive Planning and Budgeting in Kigali from 26 to 28 July 2011.
This meeting brings together representatives from ministries of finance, sector ministries, multilateral organizations, bilateral donors, civil society organizations, and expert academics from thirty countries worldwide to join efforts for accelerated action on gender-responsive budgeting (GRB).
Taking place ten years after the 2001 High Level International Conference Strengthening Economic and Financial Governance through Gender-Responsive Budgeting, this global high level meeting provides an opportunity to mobilize collective and ambitious action on strengthening gender equality outcomes in development cooperation and national level planning and budgeting. The meeting will:
A key output of the global high-level meeting will be a global call for action that articulates policy recommendations based on shared good practices and challenges that will contribute to the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4) in Busan, Korea in November 2011.
