Global Action to Prevent War (GAPW), Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security (NGOWG) are partnering to produce a publication assessing women's participation in peacemaking, peacekeeping, and early post conflict peace-building through the eyes of women participants themselves.
This publication will be the second in a three-volume series -- prevention, participation, and protection -- and represents one part of our broad commitment to promoting women leadership and highlighting women's important stake in peace and security policy.
The authors are collecting information through questionnaires and interviews - would you like to be involved? This publication seeks to provide a case study based analysis in the lead up to Security Council Resolution 1325, 10th anniversary in Fall 2010.
The primary objective of the publication is to identify and provide concrete examples of women's participation on the ground and highlight the affects of this inclusion (or exclusion) on peace and post-conflict processes.
Providing succinct case studies to this end will contribute to generating more substantive discussions and enhance the advocacy strategies of the partner organizations in promoting the full and effective implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1325,1820, 1888 and 1889.
Working in collaboration with field based partners the consultants will distribute questionnaires, conduct interviews, and collect other information pertinent to the experiences of local women in peace and post-conflict processes.
