All of the key leading Cambodian women from the four political factions participated in the process leading up to a peace agreement, but had little influence on their respective political parties. Women in each factional party were co-opted by the party's interests at the expense of a true population's well-being and peace. There were also a few outstanding women outside of the political factions who informally played very important roles as catalysts in the pre-negotiation phase in preparation for early dialogues among the Cambodian political antagonists.
