This has not been an easy road in my native country of Cambodia, where, like many countries, a traditionally male-dominated society has made it difficult for women to rise to the ranks of leadership.

BLOG: Genocide in Guatemala, Thirty Years Later

On June 20th, Guatemala asked the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to declare itself incompetent in ruling on a series of massacres against Mayan villagers in Río Negro between 1980 and 1982. More significantly, the State publicly rejected the notion that these were acts of genocide, and Secretary of Peace Antonio Arenales Forno went on to say, not for the first time, that genocide had never occurred in Guatemala.

Oceania: Gender Symposium Concludes

A meeting on gender responsive market governance and reform has successfully concluded in Honiara, Solomon Islands this week.

The meeting gave the opportunity to share testimonies and knowledge from different market advocates, managers and women vendors from Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Solomon Islands.
