General Women, Peace and Security

The General Women, Peace and Security theme focuses on information related to UN Security Council Resolutions 1325, 1820, 1888, 1889, 1960, 2106, and 2122, which make up the Women Peace and Security Agenda.

The Women, Peace and Security Agenda historically recognizes that women and gender are relevant to international peace and security. The Agenda is based on four pillars: 1) participation, 2) protection, 3) conflict prevention, and 4) relief and recovery.

The Women, Peace and Security Agenda demands action to strengthen women’s participation, protection and rights in conflict prevention through post-conflict reconstruction processes. It is binding on all UN Member States.

the African Women's Decade 2010-2020

The UK Section of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) Launched the African Women's Decade 2010-2020 in London on the 31st of July; which was the 48th Pan African Women's Day. The event was hosted by the Centre for Gender Study at School of Oriental and African Studies, University in London, from 2-5pm.

Following the conflict, a disarmament, demobilization, rehabilitation and reintegration process began. The process aimed to ensure women's participation and address their special needs. In reality, the programme failed meet the needs of a large number of women and girls. Thousands of women and girls didn't participate in the process for reasons such as misinformation about the process, and manipulation by commanders.

We, the delegates of the Afghan Women's Movement from First Women's Council to Kabul Conference, welcome the Afghan Government's efforts for an Afghan-led action plan for improved governance, economic and social development, and security. CAMPAIGN: Help Needed- Iranian Woman Sentenced to Stoning Death

Help is needed to preserve the life of Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, an Iranian women who could be stoned to death at any time. Equality Now says it has learned from credible sources that Mohammadi-Ashanit received the sentence after being changed with committing adultery with two men.
