International Women's Day for Peace and Security; Rural Women, Peace and Human Security consultation and launch of “1325" translation posters – FemLink Pacific (October; Fiji)
In January 2010, UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Centre, with support from the Government of Japan through the UNDP-Japan Partnership Fund, has initiated a new capacity development project on gender and macroeconomic issues. The objective of the course is to enhance Asia-Pacific countries' capacity in gender-responsive policy making, especially on macroeconomic issues such as trade, fiscal and monetary policies, finance, and economic crisis.
The Third International Conference on Women's Safety, will take place on 22-24 November 2010 in Delhi, India. As we know, women's lack of safety is a serious obstacle to achieving gender equality as it curtails women's mobility and limits their right to participate fully and freely as citizens in their communities.
As part of CEDAW's 30th Anniversary and International Women's Day, UNIFEM is holding an essay and photo contest from 8 March to 2 September in the Pacific region. The theme of the contest is "Promoting Gender Equality and Women's Human Rights — From National Commitments to Real Change."
The symposium « Gender, cities and local governance in the Arab world and in the Mediterranean region» aims to study urban development by focusing on gender issues and the role of women in this process because social norms related to gender are linked to the internal transformations within any given society.
