Co-organised with the India-based organisation Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP), the roundtable will provide a forum for open exchange of experiences and for practical and creative discussions. In October 2000, the UN Security Council (UNSC) passed a groundbreaking resolution on women, peace and security, UNSC resolution 1325. Ten years on, UNU is hosting a public forum in which diplomats, scholars and civil society leaders will assess efforts in different countries and at the UN, to ensure full participation by women in policies and practices aimed at successfully addressing violence and building peaceful communities.
The Regional Gender Community of Practice (CoP) includes UNDP CO gender focal points, gender advisors and analysts, gender project managers, gender experts attached to projects, Senior Management and Operations staff, and everyone else who are actively promoting gender mainstreaming in their work - all benefiting from the interaction and knowledge exchange within the CoP.
