Disarmament


WILPF advocates for full and complete disarmament as the basis for peace, freedom and gender justice for all. There are many disarmament forums at the United Nations. These include the General Assembly’s First Committee, the United Nations Disarmament Commission, the United Nations Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Arms Trade Treaty, Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Conference on Disarmament, and other forums. ​

    2017 Disarmament

    RCW is a steering committee of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize Winner. RCW spearheaded the global movement to ban nuclear weapons with its #BanTheBomb initiative.

    On June 17 RCW bolstered these efforts with a historic opportunity to mobilise women's civil society and ban nuclear weapons once and for all at the Women's #BanTheBomb March. RCW continues to lead the field in analysis, reporting and advocacy this year and will tackle key issues of killer robots, aerial bombardments over civilian areas, and other crucial issues.
