While the world's attention was captured by the struggle for power in Abidjan, women in the west of Ivory Coast were involved in another struggle.
It was a struggle to escape rape, sexual assault and harassment by armed men.The International Rescue Committee has been documenting stories from women and girls who have fled into neighbouring Liberia in recent weeks. Liz Pender is in the main town of Ganta in Nimba county, she told BBC Network Africa's Audrey Brown what she has been hearing.
