Civil society had a pivotal role in the adoption of UNSCR 1325, having strongly lobbied for it and contributed to its drafting. As a number of NAPs were adopted, the role of civil society has shifted to making critical contributions in implementation and monitoring. This event will have panelists discuss the partnerships between government and civil society regarding the implementation of 1325 National Action Plans.


The panelists include:
Ms. Tatyana Jiteneva, UN Women, on Kyrgyzstan and civil society's involvement in NAP development
Ms. Philippa King, Deputy PR of Australian Permanent Mission to the UN
Mr. Naoto Hisajima, Minister of the Permanent Mission of Japan
Ms. Mavic Cabrera Balleza, International Coordinator of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders
