A Nobel Peace Prize nominee helps unveil a new center for gender studies at the University of Guam.
Zohra Andi Baso did the honors, cutting the ribbon to officially open the center.

Baso is an Indonesian women's activist who is visiting UOG this week. The center will be a place for instructional support and collaboration with educators on Guam and in the region. The women and gender studies minor aims to empower women in the work place.

"It's a minor that we have started to offer, which is more of a supplementary program to majors, to raise issues and consciousness about women and the different ways that women function in the world," said professor Seyda Turk Smith.
The center is located in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building and has been decorated with art work from students in the program over the years.
