Human Security for Rural Women in Nigeria (using SCR1325)

The event will be a panel discussion on 2 priority aspects of Human Security in rural African context: Prevention of Conflict, and women's security and participation. Invited speakers will present good practice and recommendations for the promotion of women's rights as prevention strategy from local and national context; as essential for the empowerment and security of rural women. Discussion will also focus on the possibility for Nigeria to develop and implement a national action plan for SC Resolution 1325 as a way to increase women's role in preventing violent conflict.

This event aims to link African women, diaspora women and other partners to discuss how to work together towards the achievement of real human security for rural women in Africa and equipping them to address challenges such as the prevention of violence and conflict. This event also aims to present best practice, innovative proposals, as well as to come up with recommendations for policy-makers.
