INDONESIA: Soka Gakkai Indonesia Holds Fourth Women's Peace Conference

From May 15-16, 2010, SGI-Indonesia women and young women members sponsored the fourth Women's Peace Conference at the SGI-Indonesia Headquarters Building in Jakarta. The event was also held in commemoration of "SGI-Indonesia Women's Day" on May 14.

On May 15, Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, from Indonesia's Ministry of Women Empowerment & Child Protection, and Shinta Nuriyah Wahid, wife of former Indonesian president Abdurraham Wahid and her daughter Yenny Wahid, the director of the Wahid Institute, participated in the conference which more than 1,000 attended. SGI-Indonesia Women's Leader Gouw Sok Hun shared a message from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda congratulating members on the holding of the conference.

At the conference, Ms. Gumelar expressed her appreciation for the women of SGI and their significant contributions to the promotion of peace. SGI-Indonesia also presented its Women's Peace Award to Ms. Wahid.

SGI-Indonesia has sponsored the Women's Peace Conference since 2006.
