British women in solidarity with diaspora African women members of UK WILPF are continuing to work on the objectives set for the African Women's Decade and raise the voices of grass-roots Africans to the UK, African and other governments; as well as NGO partners, to work harder on women's issues in Africa; to promote the Maputo Protocol (African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa) and various legal framework documents for the protection and advancement of women's rights and their participation in the good governance of Africa.

We want to further promote the voices of African Women world wide to thepublic through the official launch of Make Every Woman Count website www.makeeverywomancount.org specifically designed for this aim we are committed to monitoring this decade and evaluate the situation of women; every year until 2020; each July. We will also continue doing our own work to support women in the African continent.

UK WILPF has been campaigning to raise the voices of African women in the UK, for many years. In November 2008, UK WILPF held a series of events in London to promote the voices of African women, and delivered a Declaration to 10 Downing Street for the PM.
