A leading women's organisation in the country has appealed to newly elected members of Parliament to show integrity and good judgment and act with responsibility and accountability in the process of electing a new prime minister and forming government.

In a statement, the Solomon Islands National Council of Women, NCW, is calling on members of Parliament to exercise sensible leadership and honesty to ensure that there is a transparent process in the election of the prime minister.

Acting General Secretary of NCW, Sarah Dyer says the women's council is closely monitoring members of Parliament who are engaged in the process of forming the next government.

She says members are urged to take the servant-hood approach and show genuine concern in taking the country forward.

Mrs Dyer says members are being reminded of the need to have an accountable and democratic government.

She says NCW wants to see a government which has people centered and gender friendly policies.
