The Letter in Support of Filing OTP-CR-397/15 is adressed to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Fatou Bensouda by the President of the Global Justice Center Janet Benshoof. In this letter, Janet Benshoof commends the office of the Prosecutor for its leadership in and commitment to prioritizing gender-based crimes and incorporating a gender perspective into the work of the International Criminal Court. Civilians who live in and near ISIS-controlled territories experience constant fear of ISIS’s brutality. The state-building strategy of ISIS requires subjugation of women and control over their reproductive capacity to guarantee future generations for ISIS.  In this vein, it is essential that any examination into ISIS’s crimes by this court be grounded in a robust gender perspective and analysis.
