The 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW60) took place at United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March, 2016. The priority theme this year was "Women’s Empowerment and the Link to Sustainable Development.” This summary provides an overview of certain CSW60 events strongly related to PeaceWomen/WILPF’s the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and/or our key geographical focus areas. It therefore only represents a fraction of the WPS events held during CSW60. The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda refers to Security Council resolutions 1325 (2000); 1820 (2009); 1888 (2009); 1889 (2010); 1960 (2011); 2106 (2013); 2122 (2013) and 2242 (2015.) These resolutions guide work to strengthen women’s participation, protection and rights in conflict prevention through postconflict reconstruction processes.
