"They Set the Classrooms on Fire"

The Human Rights Watch report, “They Set the Classrooms on Fire" documents attacks by Boko Haram between 2009-2016 on schools, students and teachers in the Borno, Yobe and Kano states in Nigeria. It further describes the use of schools for military purposes by government forces and finds that the use of schools for these purposes has had a destructive impact on hundreds of thousands of children, teachers and administrators and their right to education.
